Dr. Wang is a Phi Beta Kappa honors graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles where he was a Regents Scholar and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. He was one of only four seniors in the graduating class of 1982 granted the Outstanding Senior Award. As a Regents Scholar, he received his medical degree and residency training from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. In 1986 he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society.

Dr. Wang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, California Academy of Ophthalmology and the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association. He was Chief of Ophthalmology at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and he teaches at UCSF School of Medicine as a Clinical Professor. In 2009, he was the only East Bay comprehensive Ophthalmologist selected to "Best Doctors in America” by the independent organization Best Doctor, and has been re-selected every year since. He has also served as consulting physician at the University of California, Berkeley, Tang Health Center up until the end of 2017.

Dr. Wang is a highly skilled surgeon who specializes in cataract surgery and incorporates the latest in cataract treatment modalities including Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery with the femtosecond laser, in addition to multi-focal and astigmatism correcting lenses: ReSTOR, ReZoom, and Toric intraocular lenses. Dr. Wang also donates his time performing surgery as a volunteer at Hospital de la familia on semi-annual surgical mission trips to Guatemala. He has always been dedicated to personalized high quality care for his patients.
